Apologies

Sorry for being MIA all weekend, with the exception of the entry that published with Thursday's date. Not too much has been going on since I had another 4 day weekend. Oh, the horrors of the Geriatrics schedule. A few highlights of the last few days:

- I finished my paper on sexuality in the elderly. I did learn quite a bit, so it was a useful exercise. I'll share some highlights later on.

- I visited a good friend this weekend down in SoCal and had a great time. It was my 2nd trip to the LA area in 2 weeks, so it was tiring, but fun.

- Long Beach is awesome. It's like a cross between Oakland and San Diego. Very diverse and very fun.

- I rented a car from Hertz for over 40% off due to my ACEP membership. The Hertz agent was shocked that the rate was so low! Even if you have no interest in Emergency Medicine whatsoever, the ACEP membership might be worth it just for the discount. I think it has already paid for itself. And, damn, I felt like a real grown-up renting from Hertz. Usually, I'm in the long line for the cheapo places like Alamo with all of the other students. But at Hertz I got helped immediately, with great service and an upgrade to a bigger car with free GPS. It was the best rental car experience I've ever had.

Overall, I'm impressed with both EMRA and ACEP for the level of support they provide their members...unlike the puny AMSA/AMA perks.

Yeah, it has amazed me. I have joined several of these "professional organizations" in medical school, some of them because they were free. And EMRA/ACEP really does seem to go above and beyond.

The Red Sox are still alive... back to Fenway we go :)
